Science the Homeschool Way

With a little inspiration from The Big Bang Theory last night, we took on a bit of a science project today.

2 parts corn starch to 1 part water...

PA080005

Plus 1 speaker...

PA080007

And turn up the bass.

Ta-Da! Dancing Goo!

(It's a liquid concotion that changes between a solid and liquid as it's handled... and will entertain the kids for hours.)

I totally wanted to do that when we were watching them! SO cool. Of course, Big Brother had done it already, but that is so neat!

Cool. We made the sugar crystals in water over the summer and they turned out so pretty, I made my daughter share them with me. She was not too happy that her fairy princess treasure had to be divvied up. Life lesson, kiddo.

My sports massage teacher brought in a big bowl of some cornstarch concoction. If you try to force your way in (punch it), it's hard as can be but if you ease your way in (fingertips pressing in gently), you sink right down. A very good, visual metaphor for massage! (not that massage therapists go around punching people)

My husband would freak if he saw me do that to his speakers. :D Hey, what ever keeps the kids entertained and if they learn on the side, it's even better.

Congrats on doing a science experiment! How fun! We talk about them all the time, but never seem to have what we need and then I tend to forget about it....

Oh, I loved that slime stuff! I think we added food coloring too and it wasn't just the kids who were entertained for hours....
