I really hate to laugh at someone else's misfortune, but I am dying here. Being the kind of driver that has acquired many a dent on many a car, yet having never actually been in a wreck involving more than one car, I can sympathize with the feelings all around at your house tonight.

If it would make a certain 16 yo feel any better, I once forgot to put my emergency brake on my very old manual Jetta and then had to watch as it rolled in slow motion into our backyard pool. Neighbors came from 3 streets over to photograph that one. I feel your pain.

It can (and will) happen Tammy! Hang in there - When he is driving well it will give you so much more knitting time!!!

Our car is not quite as new as yours(-94-model)...but my 16-yearold managed to slide slowly into a tree in our driveway, he was driving backwards and didn't have any control at all! He jammed the door and had to go out through the passengerseat...After that he sort of "lost" a bumper when he hit a stone that was lying along the road...
(ps.nothing of this happened on a public road- we have some roads at the farm where he's been driving )

Oh my!! What kind of look did he have on his face when that happened!! At least its still drivable...

Ouch, but I guess that's the reason they make bumpers?

Aaaaa!

My brother ran into a teacher's car in the school parking lot when he was 16...and ran away.

Does it help you to know *I* recently ripped the trim off the side of the big garage door as I was pulling our van in? And I've been driving, um, over THIRTY years?! =:-O

I laughed when I saw this picture. My 14 y/o is dying to drive. She is counting the days to her birthday when she can get her learners.o

*gasp* oooooooh. my.

In high school, I friend of mine was driving to the DMV to take his driver's test. As he was pulling into the DMV parking lot, he hit one of the short poles they had on either side of the parking lot entrance. Those poles took more abuse then at a strip joint.

He never went in. He wasn't supposed to be driving himself there and after hitting the pole, he just drove home.
