Booty (No Not that Kind)

I'm calling this socks Mint Chocolate Chip with Blue M&M socks...

Isn't that what they look like? I did a short row heel at first but for some reason the stripiness then seemed monotonous to me so I chose the less symmetrical puddled look of my regular heel instead. The yarn is Yarn Pirate in the One Planet colorway from One Planet Yarn. I really enjoyed this yarn and it's bold, unique colors.

Yes, it would seem that I've been in a rush to finish a couple of socks... there must have been a reason wouldn't you think? Could it have something to do with birthday money burning a hole in my pocket?

But of course! I opted to selectively add to my sock yarn collection and The Loopy Ewe never fails to provide me with an irresistible selection.

Some merino/cashmere sock yarn from the Knittery (color - Grace)...

Claudia's Handpainted Short Sport in Blue Terra Cotta and Yarn Love in Belle

and Fiesta Boomerang in Cool Breeze...

I tried to pick up a couple of different colors, but those blues and greens always get me. The yarns are all wonderful but the twist and springiness of the Fiesta Boomerang makes me quite anxious to try it... but first I've got to get a pair of football socks going since it's almost that time of year again.

Anyway, with this order, I also became an official Loopy Groupie... check out the bag and sock yarn that they sent me as a welcoming gift. Very cool.

Now I'm off to correct the damage I did trying to cast-on for a sock during an afternoon trip to see The Bourne Ultimatum with DH. The fact that I have never successfully cast-on or even knit anything but stockinette in a dark theater fails to prevent me from trying. My efforts were further hampered this time by the discovery that my husband finds it embarrassing (and inappropriate) for me to use his cell phone light to check if I should be knitting or purling. Actually I think his embarrassment started when he saw me pull out my knitting (we don't go to the movies together often), so when I asked for him to hold his lit cell phone over my needles I was probably pushing it. Whatever.

Oh, one last thing... I've been trying to find a good knitting podcast to entertain me on my new ipod. "Entertain" being the key word here... I don't want instructions, dull musings or music to knit by.

What are your favorite podcasts?

That's it. We're yarn twins.

You bought the Knittery yarn I was drooling over and the Claudia that I've been planning to buy. I love anything Yarn Love or Fiesta. You by everything I would buy if I could just afford a little more.

Sheri probably starts laughing all the way to the bank from the moment we sign into TLE.

I like Scout's Swag...and she's mentioned a few podcasts. http://knittersuncensored.blogspot.com/ most recently. And Lime&Violet awhile back. I'm not that technological yet...maybe next year. We own the Chronicals of Narnia on CD...it was something like $75 but totally worth it...that's a lot of hours. And the accents are great. Your boys would probably enjoy listening to that too. I know that doesn't plug into your ears...but worth the mention.

Cast-On with Brenda Dayne is excellent. She has had some very interesting interviews with knitwear designers.

Lixie Knits and Lime and Violet are good too.
